Advices before examination

To students in general and overseas student in particular, the night before exam is extremely nerve-wracking and stressful. This article will share some tips to regain your confidence.

  1. Just take a little time to review the lesson

For the important exams, the last night before the exam is not the time to review, but the whole month or week before. Research shows that the night before exam is not the optimal time for you to absorb new knowledge. If you want, just spend a little time reviewing a few key points, or spend an hour or so doing some sample exercises, then put your books aside and relax.

  1. Eat a nutritious dinner

Stay away from fast food or microwaved food. Please treat yourself to a nutritious dinner that includes starches, vegetables and fish. Starchy products like rice or bread will help increase blood flow to the brain, helping you remember better. Vegetables like cabbage or bean sprouts help your brain stay healthy and remember longer. Have some omega 3, which research shows can help with learning. However, don’t try to overeat, you won’t want to have overeating and stomach upset before the test day.

  1. Stay hydrated

Dehydration will make you tired and irritable, so be sure to drink enough water before the test day. Stay away from stimulant drinks such as coffee, tea, or carbonated beverages. These drinks often contain a lot of caffeine and sugar, which will affect your sleep.

  1. Find a way to relax

Listen to music, go for a walk or read a comic book, call a friend, cook something delicious you like… Whatever you do, try not to worry about the exam tomorrow. Stress at this point not only won’t help you get any more points, but it will also make you less confident.

  1. Prepare what you need to bring to the test site

Put all the supplies you will bring to the test site in one easy-to-find spot. Get things ready in advance: print registration cards, prepare photos, pencils and ballpoint pens, calculators, etc., and anything else you think you’ll need.

  1. Get enough sleep

Sleep will help you boost memory and concentration. A long sleep will make you much more refreshed and confident. Conversely, if you sleep little or stay up all night before, you are more likely to fall asleep during the test.
